In her 90th year, May-Eliane de Lencquesaing shows no signs of slowing down. Repeated South African success in winning the Pichon Lalande Trophy at the International Wine & Spirit Competition was an initial attraction for her, then owner of that Bordeaux classed growth, to invest in the Cape. Thirteen years after development of what was an old fruit farm into vineyards and construction of a cellar, Glenelly on Stellenbosch’s Simonsberg is undergoing further improvements with the building of a new home for Madame’s noteworthy glass collection, renovations of the tasting room and space for a new food experience. It is anticipated these will be completed by mid-2016.
